Spartacus is an obstacle race, a test to the participants endurance, from trail racing to mud passages, through climbing to field obstacles, will and resistance are the name of the game.
Inspired in the big international race, "Amigos do trail" decided to make a similar local event with the intention to bring participants from all over the country, so they ask the studio to create a poster and a flyer for the event.

The initial idea was to explore the vile side of the race in an expressive non bloody way and try to avoid spartan clichés, so it was possible to acknowledge the fact that it is a tough race but not from a physical harm´s way point of view. Using the running shoe as an universal symbol and the main one for the poster, we decided to give it a violent and expressive look. So the concept was: The violent expression is for the poster the same as the violent physical endurance is for the race.

As complement, we decided to implement some more graphic elements. When the brief was given to us it was also presented a sheet with some skectches of the obstacles that would be in the race, this elements were represented by arrows, crosses and wavy strokes, that we thought would be interesting in putting it in the final poster aswell.
