"Swing Notation", the world's first notation system designed for swing dance. It is my personal project full of my passion towards swing dance.
Swing dance is an African American dance in the 1930s where it started to fade away since the World War 2 until there was no one swing dancing anymore. The original art form was revived in the 1980s from old films and passed on from a few original dancers. However, old films have a very low resolution and the dancers' memories were not perfect, so what is now is the best interpretation possible.
Swing Notation aims to record swing dance in a written form so the dance could be securely documented in precise details. However, it is quite not the time for Swing Notation to replace high resolution video recordings or an in person experience. Swing Notation is a language, but it is very new. It may be categorized with spoken languages or modern musical notation in terms of communication, but it still has a long way ahead.
Nevertheless, here marks the starting point of the dancical notation.
