NSA Redesign
Overview
As a class we were given the user interface task of redesigning a government agency's website. So I decided that I wanted to redesign the NSA.Gov website because it had an overload of information and the navigation bar was difficult to use and was not user friendly. So my goal was to create a design that users can easily navigate through.
Research
Myself and two other designers card sorted all the information that was in the websites navigation to get a better look of what was in the website and see what was useful for user and what was not needed.
Sitemap
To get a better idea of the design’s structure, I created a sitemap of the categories that we believe are most important to least important (left to right) using Adobe XD.
Style Guide
To show all the components I used for my redesign I created a style guide that displays my color palette, typography, icons etc. I decided to keep the websites primary color a blue but I decided to change the font into more of a serif type of text.
Wireframe
I began building the wireframes. These early designs gave me perspective on the structure of the app. Wireframing was helpful because I could quickly iterate on ideas.
NSA High Fidelity Prototype
Below is the interactive high fidelity prototype that I created in Invision.
Retrospective
If I were to revisit this project the first thing I would do is spend more time on aligning all the icons and add more color to make the design look and feel more intractable. But only having two weeks its was difficult to do everything that I would want to have in my redesign.
