The Book of Common Prayer: Redesign

The Book of Common Prayer is the compilation of liturgical, devotional and teaching resources for individuals and congregations in the Episcopal church. The book acts as a symbol of unity, as Anglican liturgy has been rooted in the Prayer Book since its first publication in 1549. We, who are many and diverse, come together in Christ through our worship, our common prayer. This updated version looks at the typographical content of the Prayer Book in a new and fresh way, applying consistency and organization to a 1,000 page body of content.
In the Book of Common Prayer, beauty in thought can be enhanced and complimented by beauty on page. The setting of text within this book is directed not by rigidness of typographic rules, but rounded out phrases and sentences meant to ease reading and comprehension. Many typographical refinements within are minute and inperceptible to the reader, while the total creates a visual grace that compliments the majesty of the text. The overall setting forms a cadence that creates a nearly musical reading experience.
