FUSE Omni-Channel Marketing

spring quarter 2018. GrC 402: digital printing & emerging technologies. non-profit.
Project Guidelines
In a group of 4, make up a factitious non-profit and create a variety of marketing collateral including logos, stickers, and postcards. The course required students to integrate InDesign and XMPie by using external files and databases to draw out data that will be used in variable data printing.

Workflow
In this project, each team member used his or her own logo and collaborated together to collect data of over 20 recipients and brainstorm questions to put onto surveys and forms. My team member, Brienne, came up with the idea of a non-profit that focuses on connecting millennials and Gen Z's to get more involved with grassroots organizations and campaigns. Due to the political climate many people want to get more involved, but many of them do not know how to start. The goal of our non-profit is to align interests and beliefs to events (meetings, protests, rallies, etc.) between people and organizations.
Keywords for the name of the non-print had to include: join, together, and connect. After a few Google searches for synonyms, we decided on the name Fuse
Many of volunteering organizations had logos that incoporated hearts, hands, or a picture of a person to emphasize the human aspect of working together towards a cause. The logo by VolunteerMatch heavily inspired me, espeically since our site would run like their's. For the hands I made them resemble the link-select cursor since millenials and Gen Z's grew up with technology and are tech-saavy and because Fuse connects individuals through a website. The wordmark contains a typographic ligature that connects both letters as one glyph.

Using the data the group collected we exported the information into Microsoft Excel. This workflow was useful for creating merged data sets in InDesign and extra features such as If-Then Statements and applying images to each data. For the purposes of this assignment and for privacy issues, all of the information in this sheet are all fake
This is where it all starts
indesign
This first set of collateral students designed were stickers for members. The idea for my set was to create stickers for people who attended events that displayed the names, hometowns, ages, and genders. For this set, all of the variable information changed but not every person recieved the same sticker design. There are four different "badges" in total but the placement of the information was stagnant among all. The eggplant-purple outlines are dielines made by creating offset paths.

The next set of marketing collateral was to create 4 x 6" that adhered to U.S. postal regulations. Aside from not putting designs or information on the barcode (5/8" from the bottom), the postcards had to include 3 different image variations and at least 5 different variable information. Some of the variable data included whether or not the person has previously donated to an organization and if they would prefer being leaders or followers when signing up for events in their hometowns.  All of the images found on the front side of the postcards were found on Pexels or Unsplash.
