During my time in college, I also came across a very unique niche field of design, Environmental Graphics. I never understood what it was until I came across this class and did this project.
EGDenver was imagined to be a webservice that gives students an opportunity to get close to the world of Environmental Graphic Design.
The idea stems from being able to document every sign in Denver and creating a hub for people to talk about these signs. The nuances of signs and sign production is an interesting one. From open pan-channels to
neon-tubed lights, there are many beautiful and beautifully crafted signs that needs to be shared.
Despite this project's great detail for environmental graphic design, I feel like my biggest contribution to this project would be the logo design. After much deliberation and iterations, I took charge of the logo design phase and deligated logo designs to everyone, as we collectively came up with a great design. The final logo stems from the idea of a wall sign, hanging off the D, with high contrast, it's a neutral, yet strong logo for a modern web service.
Below are my personal iterations. (to view further iterations by my teammates, please refer to the process book at the end.)
