This is a photo of my printed compositions. One is a san-serif font and the other is a serif font.
In this project we were asked to design two typographic compositions using the assigned specifications and the principles of design. We needed to learn about this two typefaces:
Sans-serif font: Neue Haas Grotesque Bold
Serif font: Stemple Garamond Roman
Serif font: Stemple Garamond Roman
Each composition must contain five to eight different glyphs and each composition should contain at least 5 different elements of typographic anatomy.
The reason for this project was to understand and learn the anatomy of typefaces so we are better prepare as graphoc designers to use fonts in a better way and to create an harmonious composition where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
San-serif Composition:
This composition used the letter j,e,a,q and n . This font is Neue Hass Grotesk. The anatomy that I used are: eye, descender, bowl, tail and crossbar. I create this composition in a way that the letter a,q,e where align in the number 3.
Serif Composition
This composition is from the font Stempel Garamond. I decided to used my baby's name wich is Abby and her birthday 23. I align everything and rotate the letter b so it looks unite with the letter A. This composition has stem,eye, descender, tail and crossbar.
