This is the design I made for the Belgian Air Force 1st Wing A109 helicopter demonstration team. I made multiple versions, a simplified design for the helicopter, designs for patches, vizor covers and promotional materials.
The design for the helicopter had to be a toned down olive design, as the helicopter had to remain capable of missions. The griffon is the mascotte for the 17th squadron under which the A109 Display Team operated.
When the helicopter with the new design was introduced to the press, I was invited, and made these images. The paintshop had taken the liberty to add a lot of white highlights, not entirely to my satisfaction.
After this they asked me to design another livery for the demo team, this time with the mascotte of the 1st Wing of the Belgian Air Force, a wolf.
Then we were finally allowed to step it up, and make a full design, in greytones with a bit of color. Lots of work, but the outcome is amazing.
