Tune Into the Past

Tune into the past is a 3D animated short film.
After years of neglect, an old radio awakens to find itself in the hands of its original owner’s grandson, sparking a journey of rediscovery and nostalgia as it recounts the memories of its past, ultimately finding solace in the realization that its purpose lives on in new technology.

Character Designing

To develop my character, I began by sketching numerous figures depicting their appearance. I prioritized simplicity, focusing on basic shapes and avoiding excessive detail, as the final character modeling would be done in 3D.
The characters I depicted include a vintage transistor radio branded as ‘Swara Tarang’, a young boy who plays a significant role in the present storyline, and the boy’s grandfather. Additionally, I illustrated a younger version of the grandfather for flashback scenes, with minor variations in clothing but retaining the same appearance as the little boy in the present scene.
Character Modeling

While I was modeling the character, I noticed some parts did not look quite right, like the size of the head. I made changes to fix it. Then, I focused on keeping the body simple, so it was easy to understand. Progress was slower than I had hoped, but I made small improvements. I broke down the task into smaller pieces and started refining each part, starting with the arms. Once I had the basic shape down, I added more details. It was tricky, but I kept adjusting until it started to look like the character I imagined.
