WORK IN PROGRESS - Third piece of the "ISHTAR" Collection

Similar to the other works in this collection, this piece serves as a central element within a larger artistic composition. Drawing inspiration from Goddess Ereshkigal, Ishtar's sister and the ruler of the underworld in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, this piece delves into the intriguing parallels with Hades in Greek mythology. Notably, the ruler of the underworld in Greek myth was originally depicted as a female, potentially evolving into Persephone, later associated as Hades' wife.
Ereshkigal's pivotal role as an opposing force in Ishtar's narrative showcases the multidimensional qualities of the feminine, embodied by the two sisters.

In this photographed portrait composition, I've depicted Ereshkigal using coal, and she is copper-plated. The copper has oxidized and aged beautifully, as evident in the visual richness. She is now poised for the next phase, ready to be painted and integrated into an ancient wall adorned with Aramaic scripture.
