I created a logo for my friend's bakery business, Mrs Brave's Sweet Treats. The owner wanted to shorten the name to Mrs Brave's Cakes and have a simple but attractive logo that represents her business. She wanted the logo to be in hot pink and black and retain the original font.

I thought about the owner's personality (she's quite girly) and wanted to incorporate that into the logo. I also wanted to add an image that best reflects her. I first started by finding images of her so I could create a clipart or silhouette out of her image. This would make the logo unique as there would be no other image similar to theirs. I wanted to show her holding a cake, so I included a cake for the silhouette to hold. I took a cake graphic from Canva's repertoire of elements. To highlight the cake, I provided a semi-transparent circle at the back of the cake. (See image "5 - First draft").

I also created another draft that utilized Canva elements of a "girl holding a cake" on a "circle coffee sticker". The owner told me they used the "Artisan" font from GoDaddy, but I couldn't find it on the website or Canva. So I opted to use their old logo to crop out their font, remove the background, and use the Duotone tool to set the color to hot pink. The owner liked this second version, so I decided to move forward and edit it.

Since I thought the "girl holding a cake" element from Canva was too generic, I used the duotone function to create a silhouette of her instead. I added some highlights on her cake, such as macarons and strawberries, and I also added an earring to reflect the owner's girly personality. (See images "2-4")

I sent the final draft to the owner and they liked it. I added some touch-ups and, since they requested for the background to be black, I changed that as well. They also opted to change "homemade cakes & pastries" to "customized cakes & pastries" to better explain their product. (See image "1 - final")
