Inspired by Thai Pha Yant: magical talismans that combine elements from Buddhist art, Hindu astrology, ancient Animist beliefs and South-East Asian tribal symbolism. Believed to work as a protection against evil spirits, a support for meditation and to offer power, good luck and other benefits for the bearer.
I felt drawn to these talismans since I stepped foot in Bangkok and started to notice these beautiful, mysterious designs hanging everywhere. From shop doors to home altars and even in doctors desktop computers. So I wanted to create my own Pha Yant as a tribute to this magical country, that became my second home during the last 2 years.
Featuring Hanuman: the Monkey-God from Ramakien mythology, who symbolizes courage, strength, and loyalty.
