History comes to life. This book is about the cinemas of the capital of Luxembourg. Parisiana, Marivaux, The Yank, Capitole and Ciné Vox - to name but a few - are cinemas of times gone by. They have been torn down in the meantime, to be replaced by modern multiplex theatres.

All that remained are photographs, artifacts, box office tickets, programmes and the "Giel Bliedecher" - the infamous flyers - distributed to almost every household in the country during the 1950s and 60s, prominently billing the films in the theatres.

Two enclosed DVDs produced by the CNA and the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg deliver thrilling footage, including tv reports on the cinemas of the capital and original films from the time when the pictures started moving in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. D'Stater Kinoen is a gem not to be missed on any bookshelf of either the scientifically interested movie fan or the film aficionado. The book has been produced in a partnership with the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg and the state-owned National Audiovisual Centre (CNA).
