My wild love went riding

My work is changing. It is transitioning to something more complex and heavier, occasionally revisiting my ideas of 2007, when I was studying proportionately modernism. I don't consider these works "modern" in the strict sense. It feels more as if the background research for these works has the same starting point as modernism: works of isolated cultures and civilisations, magical and fetish objects, masks and shamanism.
This small sculpture (64X65X36 cm), purposely photographed like a monumental piece, is titled after a popular song by the Doors. It is very rare that I give a title to a work before it is completed. One something is finished I look at it and decide to a title. I have a lot of lyrics in my head and thus, quite often I borrow song titles as titles for my art.

This particular sculpture depicts a person riding a four-legged animal while carrying a child on its back. The viewer can decide on the particulars of the story, whether it is a child and a parent, or a child and its sibling, if the animal is a dog or a horse or something alien and new. The creature on top has a set of fuzzy horns and is covered with white fur where its face would be. Again the interpretation is open. It might be a mask or those creatures might have this kind of face.

I really like this white fur because it creates a feeling of textures emptiness, making even more space for speculations and imaginary conclusions.

I took the decision to photograph it outside so as to point out a sense of movement, and play with the idea of size and scale.
