Created in 1981 by Holocaust survivors, FIDF supports members of the Israel Defense Forces and their families. With 16 branches across North America, this organization recognizes the importance of the Israeli armed forces and its dedication to protecting the country. All Israelis join the military at the age of 18, and this group ensures they receive various types of support.
To achieve its mission, FIDF runs a number of programs. Its DIGNITY program offers emergency financial assistance to soldiers in need. The program recognizes that soldiers, often the primary income-earners, serve their families as well as their country. In the face of economic hardship, FIDF provides soldiers with funds for furniture and appliances, holiday gift coupons, and food vouchers.
