GLYPHS COMPOSITION PROJECT 1

Overlapping Glyphs

This project consisted on creating two compositions of glyphs. Both designs were made by overlapping characters of the same typeface. For the first one the

Serif Stemple Garamond Roman was used and for the second one the Sans serif Neue Haas Grotesque Bold. These composition are only alpha-numeric, the special character and punctuation signs were avoid.

The creation process started with a drawn sketch.

After having the drawings, the following step was selecting three of the best possibilities of each typeface, and vectorize it. the upper row was made by using Serif Stemple Garamond Roman and the second one Sans serif Neue Haas Grotesque Bold.

hen, after selecting again the most versatile result, started the exploration of the final proposal by moving the elements around the canvas, counting glyphs, paying attention to the golden points and principles such us negative space, proximity, overlapping and hierarchy.

When the final compositions were made, they were placed on a format of 6.75 × 8 inches tall each.
