These post stamps are supposed to celebrate our national culture. Instead of showing the typical Czech stereotypes such as beer, socks in sandals and gulash I decided to create a collection based on something we‘ve all known since our childhood - the proverbs. These proverbs are known for several generations, but they still did not die out. I think that they are kind of a national heritage and can tell something about our way of thinking.

As far as the technique goes, I think that using folk art is very appropriate for this type of motif. I think it will make it more authentic and not too neat and artificial.

Animation of the Stamps

I decided to develop this project even further and propose an idea of how to make these stamps more interactive. I decided to create Facebook filter that when is applied on the stamp (on a letter, package, postcard etc.) shows an additional information hidden in the stamp.

In my filter I decided to connect Czech proverbs and music because both of these elements are parts of our national culture. I realized that a lot of singers use references to proverbs in their songs. Sometimes it is a more poetic way of expressing certain thoughts, but also it shows that the proverbs are actually still used and understood by most people.  I decided to animate the scene on the stamp and afterwards show a section of lyrics on one side with an English translation on the other side. The translation is included so that  people in different parts of the world can understand the meaning as well.
Developing the filter, comming up with the concept.
A simulation of the working filter.
