“THE TURTLE”
Is a short 10 page silent comics story about the life of a rather shy 4 year old boy who is learning to navigate the world. The comic was part of a workshop held at "La galeria Roja" with Scott McCould in Dec 2019.
The main focus of the workshop was being able to communicate a very clear visual message or narrative by being careful and deliberate about our choice of drawings, symbols and details that are included.
The main focus of the workshop was being able to communicate a very clear visual message or narrative by being careful and deliberate about our choice of drawings, symbols and details that are included.
The goal was to come up with a short story involving (in my case) a turtle. There are of course infinite ways to approach this, but I thought I wanted to incorporate a turtle-like behavior rather an actual turtle (which in the end was also part of the story).
I wanted the finished work to feel shy visually and opted for a shy, purposefully insecure and interrupted light pencil line and light and sparingly used colors.
