ICING ON THE CAKE

This project came about from our market editor Whitney Robinson stumbling upon an AMAZING website called " I dream of cake". Based on the west coast, the owner Shinmin Li has an obsession with making just about anything into a cake. After approaching her with the idea of making several handbags out of cakes, she went straight to work. We had the cakes shot out west and had the fashion produced in NY. She was able to get on a plane to NY with one cake so that we could integrate it within at least one fashion shot.
Amusing Anecdote: When she got to the airport, Homeland Security INSISTED that she open the silver bag, not believing for one second that the bag was made entirely out of cake and frosting.
(PS: we ate the silver Louis Vuitton cake at the end of the shoot, very sweet, yet very tasty :-)
