Inspired by the tradition of tarot cards, we designed and illustrated a set of three cards with different symbols and meanings that serve as good omens and positive predictions to those who receive them.
We created process videos alongside the artwork which showed the creation of the cards in a 30 second time lapse.
The descriptive meaning of each card conjures up vivid, detailed imagery. This helped to inspire the illustration design and accurately translate the message through visual elements, for example, whether if the card represents growth, that needs to come through in the illustration.
Tarot cards tend to have a traditional, homogeneous style; though we opted for a more contemporary style and colour scheme, we kept within the ethereal realm. Part of this was characterising the elements in the cards as otherworldly forces of nature.
The star card signifies fulfillment and wishes come true.
The sun card radiates growth, warmth and positivity.
The world card stands for positive change, completion and success.
