Company of Ateneo Dancers: Dance Supremacy 2019

Dance Supremacy is a dance competition that enables its participants to challenge their dance skills and engages audience members of all ages in varying themes and styles of dances. With this, the Company of Ateneo Dancers presented a medley of Queen’s greatest hits, performing them in a fun and explosive dance number.

Through bright colors, captivating imagery, unique type, and an unconventional layout, these promotional posters aim to encapsulate all of these different elements in interesting visuals that will hopefully translate the performance piece into standout and avant-garde media visuals.
CADs has a long, storied tradition of amazing promotional posters for the various dance competitions they join every year. Given this, I wanted to make sure that I lived up to that reputation, especially since Dance Supremacy is a major competition. This was the first time I had been faced with the tedious task of lettering on eighteen individual pieces, but I enjoyed the challenge immensely because I was working with such a talented team of individuals to accomplish the finished project.
The imagery for this set of posters was heavily inspired by Queen's Live Aid performance in 1985. To further reinforce the Queen theme of the dance piece, we had asked each dancer to choose a line from any Queen song that I had then lettered around their picture.
