My design proposal for the development of an iconic tall emblem structure which will symbolize the competitive aspirations of Dubai that will contribute to the new face of the city and referring to its historical development.
The tower is characterized by the two lift core structures woven together to create a distinct silhouette of an urban window of Dubai. It also depicts a sailboat-like structure floating on the lake which represent its history as the centre of trade and later became the magnet for foreign investment and international business. The form and character of the tower also signify Dubai’s recent economic growth and success, a beacon of Dubai’s future.
The Skywalk meditation garden at a mid - rise level will feature the Date Palm which represents vitality and growth; an emblem of longevity. Aside from generating visual interest from outside, the garden also creates an important community space for contemplation and observation.
The building skins are transparent to establish a visual connection between the tower and Dubai’s urban fabric. The upper part of the tower will be clad with an aluminum lattice screen of traditional Islamic geometric design while the layer of triangulated steel lattice form the second skin on the lower part of the building envelop.
The green wall of vertical planting that extends halfway through the tower will represent the city’s mission being the Garden City of the Middle East.
During the day this emblem is a symbol of a nation whose future is filled with limitless opportunities, a venue to numerous tourism events and cultural activities.
When the sun sets, this emblem will be ablaze with lights and colors, ushering in energy for life after dark and sustaining the vibrancy of the complex.
