Museum of Claims - Manulife

Reimagining if ancient statues had been protected by Manulife protection plans.
Manulife Singapore wanted to tell people the importance of insurance, but without the usual preachy speech. So we turned to history. And let the conditions (of these recognizable statues) speak for themselves.

We replicated these statues in painstaking detail and then coded it to Facebook’s AR platform Spark to create a unique mobile experience for each statue.

These replicas were made in Shenzhen, China. It was sculpted using clay then moulded into fiberglass and finished with a marble effect.
Then we held an outdoor exhibition where people could interact with these statues using their smartphones to learn about their conditions and how having insurance could have helped.
By scanning it reveals what these ancient statues could have claimed if they were on one of the protection plans Manulife has to offer.
Even if a passerby that rather not use their smartphone as consumers can get quite skeptical these days, the write-up beside each statue does cover the basis of the importance of having insurance in a fun and witty way.
These supplementary write-ups placed beside the statues on display allows the consumer to reimagine the unheard tale for each character of what possibly could have been ommited out in the history books.
For audiences online, we created a film where we brought each statue to life with motion capture, and had them reiterate their life story.
So what’s a lesson from history worth?
