Tiny Tiger (Pictoplasma #2cute2fail challenge)

Meet our 'Tiny Tiger' - we created this little guy for Pictoplasma's #2cute2fail challenge. The brief was to 'heal the world with an XXL portion of off-the-chart character cuteness' and hopefully, we did just that, having made the Top 10 list of cuties!

The idea for the character was a little boy off on his adventure into the big wide world. We liked that tigers have large round eyes and ears and little snouts - features that we felt we could exaggerate for cute points. We wanted to make the character look like his mum had dressed him, so we paid particular attention to his outfit, focusing on the small details that make our character so life-like, such as the fold in his trousers and the lacing of his shoes.
We thought a lot about the shape language here; keeping him round and compact was really key. Although he's a tiger, we wanted him to resemble a little boy - we felt that the more believable the design is, the more adorable he would look...
...even down to his little paper bus ticket!
We wanted him to have a chunky, robust look to him with a vinyl texture that has a toy-like tangibility.

Similarly for his props and outfit, its all about the detail, from in the material of his corduroy trousers to his little plastic bottle!
We were really happy with our work on the Tiny Tiger and the response he garnered, which prompted us to go on to create a scene for him in keeping with the idea of adventure and a journey whilst allowing the viewer to create a story for themselves. We did this scene in both day and night.
