Fuze - Loose Leaf Tea

The Problem

The majority of tea bags around the world contain 25% plastic. These microplastics pollute our oceans and can cause serious environmental hazards and health risks. Many people assume that all tea bags are biodegradable, however only 4% actually are. In the UK, 96% of all tea consumed is bagged. With 165 million cups of tea made in a day, this equates to a lot of plastic! One solution to this problem is swapping to loose leaf tea, but loose leaf tea remains less popular.

The Solution

Fuze is a tea brand with a difference. It explores the endless possibilities of loose leaf tea. The product contains no plastic. Fuze aims to add fun to loose leaf tea, encouraging more people to be creative and playful whilst making sustainable choices. 
The playful nature of the brand is amplified by the product design. The illustrations connect where the two flavours combine, encouraging the consumer to be playful and imaginative. The colours are printed with Eco-Friendly vegetable ink and the tea leaves are contained in a reusable canvas bag.
Design and Development

whilst the illustrations contain characters that intertwine with the flavours. The encouragement to combine flavours adds fun to loose leaf tea, making it more approachable and light-hearted. The design contains bold and bright illustrations 
aiding creativity. The development process inspired a change in structure, encouraging consumers to physically connect two products together. The playful flavours mirror the lively tone of the brand, whilst the illustrations contain characters that intertwine with the flavours. The encouragement to combine flavours adds fun to loose leaf tea, making it more approachable and light-hearted.
The product range consists of six unique and quirky tea flavours. The combination of these flavours are translated onto posters where the illustrations overlap and match up. The products in situ appear as individuals and the packaging encourages consumers to combine them. The social media campaign aims to display the flavour combinations whilst making loose leaf tea lively and relevant. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage people to make the swap to loose leaf tea, and have fun whilst helping the environment at the same time.
