Dances of India : A stop motion film .

Dances of India : A Stop motion Project
Brief :  Taking 5 different dance forms from all over India ,we make a Stop motion  The Dances include - Kathakali , Bharatanatyam , Bhangra, Manipuri ras leela  and Dandia .

Process : We first analysed the different dance forms , looking at they way the movements flow through and what overall silhouettes or forms the different dances have. Then we made realistic sketches and used simplified shapes like cuboids , and polygons to make the dancing puppets .
The Story Board was then made to go with the soundtrack created and we added smooth transitions to make the dance forms move from one form of dance  to the another . Thus the Manipuri dance transitioned to the Dandiya , the Dandia to the Bharatnatyam and so forth and so on
The Puppets were made with cut outs of thermocol solids with a movable armature inside made of aluminum wire . Then non-air drying clay was added for the body and different kinds of paper to dress up the dancers . The eyes were made movable with beads and eyebrows movable as they were made with the clay .
The puppets all dressed up and ready to perform on stage
