For my degree project, I am creating an organization called SAFE. SAFE stands for: stop and fight extinction because my concentration is on animals that are struggling to exist in the world. Moving on from creating an organization that strictly spoke to people through logos, to help stopping extinction, to an organization that uses visual awareness. Using design, color, and form to speak to people through objects which would be made out of personalized fabric and surface design.
Creating personalized T-shirts or pants, (something that is common and regularly used) is something that grabs ones attention, mainly due to how it is designed. Wearing a simple object like a T-shirt attracts attention of other everyday people who are surrounded together in the community.
The form and surface of the fabric I will be designing. Using colors and pattern making, I would like to spread massages of the animal that particularly inspired the design. Every pattern will have two facts about the animal, the animals name, and animals form. For example, the Leatherback sea turtle is one of my ten endangered animals that I am highlighting and using design to bring awareness about. Two facts about the Leatherback sea turtle are that they grow up to seven feet long and exceed up to 2,000 pounds. These are facts that show special characteristics about every animal so people learn something about this particular animal.
