The Peruvian Design Association, in coordination with the Decentralized Unit of the Cuzco Region, announced International Call for the Exhibition Competition "Posterists in the World." Cuzco, the mythical capital of the Inca Empire, proudly preserves its stone walls, which seem to be reborn every time one registers its centuries-old streets. The city has been chosen by the organizing committee to display the best posters in the world.
At the first stage of the competition both posters had made it to the Selected list of 220 works out of initial 14956 entries from 48 countries. At the second stage the 1st poster Portrait of Pachacuti was selected for Finalist list of 26 designers and subsequently was awarded the 1st Prize in Cultural poster category.
Poster 1: Portrait of Pachacuti the 9th Inca Ruler. He was the ninth Sapa Inca (the ruler) of the Kingdom of Cuzco which he transformed into the Inca Empire in the 15th century. In Quechua (indigenous language in the Peruvian Andes) his name means "he who overturns space and time" or more commonly "earth shaker."
Poster 2: The Sacred Valley — it is a region in Peru's Andean highlands. Along with the nearby town of Cuzco and the ancient city of Machu Picchu, it formed the heart of the Inca Empire. And right above this Sacred Valley is a unique site — the Moray ruins. This impressive sight looks like giant fingerprints with wavy-like linear patterns, staircases, circular and angular shapes.
The Presidential Office of the Peruvian Design Association, chaired by Mr. Roger Núñez, and the Decentralized Unit of the Cuzco Region, by the Directors Ms. Tania Visconti and Luzvinda Chavez, have announced the "winning competitors" of the international competition "Posterists in the World."
