I was asked to design and build a website to advertise a luxury rental property abroad. I used the branding I had previously created (see Olive Tree House- Branding) to set the tone for the site. The colour scheme was kept neutral, in colours which would appeal to the target audience. The colours are therefore similar to that of Farrow and Ball paints, the client believes the target audience is attracted to these shades. There was a great emphasis to be put on photos to entice people to rent the property. It is situated in a beautiful location and therefore the website had to reflect this in order to do the house justice.
I took all the photographs used on the website using my DSLR which meant I had control of the style of the website and its content. This also saved outsourcing the work. The content is very rich and needed categorising into a sensible layout of pages; hence the drop down menu from the main navigation.
In addition to the website I set up a twitter account for the house to try and spread the word about the house whilst I arrange some SEO and google ad-words. This has proved successful with a lot of travel companies following Olive Tree House already.
