Working with GMUNK is always an exciting opportunity. For this experience, Senior Munkowitz had a rad request; Design the artwork for Grimes and her new album Miss Anthropocene. All in all we spent about a month working and loving the pixels. The end result is a lovely mash-up of Photoshop, Houdini, After Effects, Simulation Theory, Alien life-form and the year 2049. Pretty cool stuff.  

There were three challenges for this project. The first was working at 300 dpi. I failed to realize how much love I have for compositing in After Effects with Sapphire. Designing in Photoshop and dealing with file size/psb immediatly became an issue but was fortunately managable on the new machine. The second challenge was the amount of content needing conceptualized. Everything needed to support the overall story, focusing on topics such as the Gods, simulation theory, political apathy, and the end of the world. The third challenge was working with illustrations coming from Grimes and team. These illustrations needed to appear both as finished artwork and as an open working illustration.
