Album art for the new LP of my favorite band from Shanghai, Rainbow Danger Club.
The band had built a universe in their first album "Where Maps End" about a little boy who never stops wondering and fantasizing. "Souvenirs" is more focused on the days before his adventure. In a typical American country house, mom's cooking in the kitchen, dad's drinking in the living room, brother's building a rocketship in the garage, and the boy sleeping and dreaming in the attic. The entire package provides a view of their life, and their character in this environment.
From the brief and a lot of discussion, I had the idea of using the lyric foldout to show a slice of the house. All the elements were sketched out by hand, then cut out by scissor. Silhouette were digitized by scanner and completed in Adobe Photoshop. One month of discussing, brainstorming, sketching, and production was unforgettable. On top of all, I'm very proud of the chance giving the fact that the album is as fantastic as RDC always is.
