The International Council of Design (ico-D; formerly known as International Council of Communication Design or Icograda, which was formerly an initialism for International Council of Graphic Design Associations) is a world organization for design professionals. ico-D was founded in London in 1963 and celebrated its 50th anniversary on 27 April 2013. It is a non-profit, non-partisan organization and a "member-based network of independent organizations and stakeholders working within the multidisciplinary scope of design." Ico-D members include professional design organizations, design promotion bodies, design media, design education institutions and individuals with a vested interest in professional design. Design media are affiliated through the International Design Media Network (IDMN). Individuals are affiliated through the ico-D's Friends Network which was established in 1991.

In the university, we were given this project of creating a poster for the "World communication design day", a convention created by Ico-D. World Design Day (WDD) is an opportunity to recognize the value of design and its capacity for change in the world and to celebrate the birthday of ico-D.

The goal of WDD is to challenge designers to reflect deeply on the well-being of people within their local environments, and to find innovative solutions to local needs by using design as a vehicle to honor diversity, transcend borders, and improve quality of life. Marking the anniversary of ico-D’s establishment on 27 April 1963, participants worldwide are invited to gather, innovate, and live out a moment of design by organizing public events and initiatives on 27 April of each year.

Apart from the main purpose of the project, that was to create this poster, we were tasked to use a famous designer of our choosing to emulate. I chose Yusaku Kamekura.
