United Colors of Benetton: Live Windows Project

Brief

In my final year of university, we were set a brief by Fabrica – Benetton’s communication research centre (http://www.fabrica.it/). The brief was to produce a short time based media piece, that communicated information or a singular message based upon our research and understanding of one of the dates in the United Nations calendar. This was for the United Colours of Benetton’s ‘Live Windows’ Project (http://www.livewindow.it/).

Concept

I chose to create a video celebrating the start of Spring, on March 21st 2013, specifically wanting to portray Winter evolving into Spring. My message was to simply show people, in a fun way, how our seasons change and how full of colour and life the season of Spring is.

Solution

I created a stop motion video using mixed media pieces. I wanted to give the video a hand made feel, as I felt this would be a great look for a topic such as the changing of seasons. I was fortunate enough to have my work chosen by Fabrica, and they displayed my Spring video in United Colors of Benetton stores in London, Paris, Milan, Barcelona and Munich on March 21st 2013.

My Spring video being played in United Colors of Benetton store in Milan Piazza Duomo on March 21st 2013. The video played after mine in this sequence is by fellow design student Chloe Ozwell.
