The Backstreet Boys came to us with theidea for creating a “tour bus” themed website. After some brainstormingconcepts and initial concepting, we flew down to Los Angeles where Iwas the creative director on a shoot for the website. The concept wasfor each “boy” to have his own personalized bus and the user would ridealone with them. So we shot scenes of each dude watching TV, makingphone calls, etc.

After the shoot, I began design on the main part of the site. Theconcepts were based on the idea of a “floating” papervision interface, each section tied to an icon that represented its content. Once thefirst part of the site was designed, I moved on to designing a custombus interior for each one of the boys. The concepts were based on aseries of questions in a mock interview (items like colors, interests, etc.) - the end result being an ethereal looking bus interior based oneach boy.The rest of the development involved creating the interactivity inthe buses and loading content from the content managment system.

Thesite was primarily created in Actionscript 3.0 utilizing Papervision tocreate a moderate 3d UI. Cakephp was used to create a robust contentmanagement system and Limelight is employed to stream content toplayers and buses.
