In my Wood II Studio we were taught how to use the steam chamber and I became fascinated with the process and the potential shapes that could be created. Immediately I wanted to use this technology to make a rocking chair. Unfortunately, the kind of curve I wanted for the rockers is completely impractical and would not allow for proper balance in use. I did not end up using the steam chamber for the final prototype, but instead used the shapes I originally had in mind for inspiration. To create this rocking chair I utilized the vacuum bag, hand router, band saw, spindle sander, and lathe.
