For this project, we need to create a photo story as a part of a magazine. I have looked at photo stories within magazines and now I am creating a small photo series in order to know how to correctly create a strong photo story within a set layout. For this I have to be focus on composition for the images as they need to fit into a set layout provided to us. The layout includes various sized images as well as text layered onto the images as well.

For this series I am going to use an individual at leisure so that I can create interesting compositions and am not as restricted on time so I can focus on composition and take a range of images from different angles.
This is the series of images that I produced for the photo story. I am going to select the images that I like the most, then I am going to develop those images in post production, turn them into black and white (as it is a black and white magazine feature. I am then going to crop the images and put them into the template provided for us.
These are the images I had selected to put into the series as they are good individual images and they work well as a series and they fit within the layout without distorting the images too much.
This is the photo story I had created in order to understand how to link a series of images into a narrative form. I believe the photos as a series, work well. The opening image for the photo story I believe is strong and draws the attention of the viewer through direct address. However the other images within the photo story I believe are not as strong as I couldn't use certain images because some images wouldn't fit into the frame properly. Next time, when I create the actual photo story for the magazine, I am going to take a copy of the layout of the magazine so I can focus on my composition within each image while I am taking photos.
I then got images of people for the single image cover as well at the front cover and back cover. For these shots, I shot different angles to adjust to the different layouts to see which images work better in certain layouts.
I then put these chosen images into the layout provided for us and I believe the front cover and the double page spread work well within the layouts however the back cover doesn't fit within the theme of the other two images. When creating my final idea for my magazine, I am going to have a portrait on the front and not on the back, I am going to have either a wrap around or focus on an object for the back cover; almost like an advert.
When choosing the images for this set and the photo story, I had printed out the images so that I am able to see what images are better printed, as the image is for a magazine.
