PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In 2013 Kimmins was awarded the Countryside Hospital Central Utility Plant project from Skanska, who is the Construction Manager. The owner, Bay Care Health System, and Kimmins have maintained a great relationship while collaborating on three other projects. This project consists of complete site, utility, earthwork, and roadwork.
Kimmins civil work consisted of excavation of the pond bottom, which was solid clays and unsuitable materials. The deep excavation of footers for the new retaining wall was also part of the excavation work. The excavation and embankment work consists of over 14,000 cubic yards. The wall was 600 linear feet long ranging from 20 foot tall to 6 foot tall. The utilities included storm piping sizes from 6 inches to 36 inches with about 600 linear feet in all. There was a 20 linear feet deep sanitary lift station with 220 linear feet of 4 inch PVC force main, 600 linear feet of 8 inch dip fire main and 8 inch water main.
