Germain House – Historic Loft Apartments

Every space at Germain House truly evoques a special feeling. This charming River West corner building is a stunningly repurposed historic warehouse that was once home of the Germain Company—a prominent leather tanning and embossing family business from Illinois. Now, even after being reinvented to fit the lifestyle of its modern-day inhabitants, its communal spaces and every one of the 37 loft-style apartments still tell the rich story of its origins.
Curioso, our sister agency in Chicago did a beautiful job in all of the interiors, and we set out to create a unique branding system for this remarkable real estate project. A bold typography, full of character and strongly inspired in vintage publication headlines acts as anchor point for the entire brand.
A minimalist aesthetic, outline illustrations, and contrasting light and dark solid colors were incorporated onto every design in order to achieve the brand’s particular overall look & feel. Also, we made sure to provide Germain House with an old school stamp-like motif, reminiscent of its historic origins.
We designed a timeless logo with a typeface that embodies the spirit of the brand and the distinct personality of Chicago. This wordmark can be seen proudly mounted in sturdy raised metal letters on the brick masonry façade of Germain House, as well as on every marketing piece we created, such as stationery, postcards and website.
