Tips for Endurance and Peak Performance in Sports Training

Athletic events call for Endurance and Peak Performance. Peak Performance requires focusing on enhancing capability levels gradually, with confidence. Endurance calls for sustained cardiovascular and respiratory support, to satisfy energy needs.
Both Peak Performance and Endurance are dependent on supply of energy. Endurance needs sustained energy release for long duration. For this purpose, Endurance obtains energy through aerobic metabolic pathways. Aerobic metabolism can support longer duration of sustained energy supply. Aerobic metabolism pathway provides energy utilizing oxygen.
In Peak Performance, it is the Anaerobic pathway, that provides energy for, short duration, high intensity activity. Anaerobic pathways provide energy for short spikes of high intensity performance. In anaerobic pathway, there is no oxygen requirement.
Energy generation also results in metabolite accumulation, and system fatigue. During training, it is essential to inter pace, intervening rest periods that provide recovery. Insufficient resting periods affect recuperation and subsequent performance capability declines. Several physical, emotional, or behavioral symptoms, seen during over training are effects of system over load.
VO2 max (Maximal Oxygen Consumption) studies will provide information on Endurance. VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen that the athlete uses, during sustained performance. It refers to amount of oxygen utilized, per kilogram of body weight, per minute. VO2 max is a clear indicator of Aerobic Endurance.
Another issue for consideration, for athletic performance is use of slow twitching Type-1 muscle fibers. These muscle fibers use oxygen efficiently and are capable of enduring long sustained contraction periods.
VO2 max evaluation and Biofeedback of Endurance will provide insight during training periods, for achieving target sustenance levels. While VO2 max will determine Aerobic Fitness levels, Biofeedback will evaluate Endurance. Such a combined evaluation is more suitable for sports such as marathon running, swimming, cycling and others.
Sports such as shooting and archery call for high level of focus without diversion. Apart from Peak Performance and Endurance, it is also essential to evaluate athlete concentration levels. EEG (Electroencephalogram) biofeedback can help in relaxing the brain and enhancing concentration.
Other sports such as gymnastics and skiing call for body balancing and focusing. This requires a combination of motor control and focusing. EEG biofeedback coupled with VO2 max studies can help the athlete to realize existing capabilities and enhance them.
