Today banks are raising fees or closing their doors. Whole communities have been effected, leaving empty mega-mansions, browning lawns, and mosquito infested swimming pools. Those with jobs tighten their belts, while the unemployed re-train, relocate, and re-adjust priorities -- all the while holding their collective breath. As of October 29, 2011, Occupy Wall Street protests have spread to 1039 locations in 79 countries in response to troubled economies, as well as charges of corporate exploitation and budgetary malfeasance by political decision-makers.
The housing market in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties will continue to struggle until jobs return. Interestingly, the local press reported the stockpiling of land and housing properties by international buyers and local speculators anticipating the turnaround. FAULT acknowledges the many tectonic shifts that have hit California, while resisting the easy temptation to distinguish between innocent foibles and deliberate greed.

Gulf of Mexico - photos by Reggie Woolery
What began as a whim, turned into three long seasons living and working on the Gulf. In the summer of 1979, my roommate Michael Demmy and I traveled "down south" on a seven-day Greyhound bus pass. My brother Brian Woolery and cousins Glenn and Jonathan Combs joined us the following year. The photographs, watercolors, and pencil sketches featured in this volume were created during my second visit to the Gulf coast in 1980.
I served for three weeks as a kitchen steward on board Union EI-276, a oil pumping station for Union 76. I took along a $5 Diana plastic camera that could easily be hidden in my backpack. The camera shot 120 film, making soft square black and white pictures that give a dream-like quality to the the people and places captured. The following year, I brought a 35mm SLR to make self-portraits and landscapes in and around New Orleans.

TREES + ROCKS
Contemporary Stereo Images of Joshua Tree & Yosemite National Parks

Trees + Rocks is a portfolio of color landscape photographs taken at two historic U.S. parks in early 2009. The stereo images in the series uniquely represent the beauty, depth, and expansiveness of the locales’ mountain ranges, sequoias groves, cacti filled deserts, and canyon enclosed rivers. This portfolio was shot on 35mm film using a Kodak Stereo Film camera, scanned hi-resolution, and paired “side-by-side” with its complement.
The images were then reduced to a single “anaglyph” image, where viewers are required to wear cyan/red glasses to perceive the effect of three-dimensions. The final pictures are digitally framed in black, mimicking the aperture of a vintage camera.
