El 4 de octubre del 2019, las autoridades del gobierno de Chile, comandadas por el presidente de derecha, Sebastián Piñera, le comunicaban a la población que el ticket del metro sufriría su enésima alza, esta vez de 30 pesos, equivalentes a 0,04 dólares ò 0,037 euros. Un alza insignificante en sí misma, pero que a la vez, singnificó demasiado. Ese mismo días, los estudiantes secundarios, responsables de la mayoría de los cambios sociales post democracia, hacian el llamdo a evadir el metro, es decir, subir sin pagar. Ante la inminente protesta de todos los sectores sociales, el ministro de economía hacía el llamado a que la gente "se levantara más temprano" para así, optar por un servicio más barato. Días después, el viernes 18 de octubre, el país sería sacudido por las mayores protestas que Chile recuerde desde la dictadura. 30 años en que el país creció, solo para algunos. 30 años de injusticia. 30 años de abusos. 30 años en que los ricos se hicieron más ricos, y los pobres más pobres, aún. Las imágenes que verás a continuación, fueron tomadas el 25 de octubre, en una marcha llamada "La marcha más grande de Chile". Una marcha pacífica, que vino después de una semana de represión, en una ciudad tomada por los militares, con toque de queda, restricción de movimiento y de reunión, muertos, torturas y graves violaciones a los derechos humanos por parte de las fuerza armadas y de orden. Aún así, 1 millón y medio de personas salieron a la calle, a dejarle en claro a la clase política y al mundo, que este no es un movimiento político, es un movimiento social, que Chile ya no sería el mismo país de antes, y que la gente se levantó, no sólo por el alza de 30 metros en el pasaje del metro, si no que por 30 años de injusticias y abusos. Aquí no verás el dolor, la muerte y la destrucción (te ruego que googlees y te informes, porque existe y es demasiado grave) Aquí sólo verás Chilenos y Chilenas, orgullosos de haber despertado.

On October 4, 2019, the Chilean government authorities –commanded by the right-wing president, Sebastián Piñera– informed the population that the metro ticket would once again suffer a new rise, this time of 30 pesos, equivalent to 0.04 dollars or 0,037 euros. An aparently insignificant rise, but at the same time, it meant much more. That same day, high school students, responsible for most of the post-democracy social changes, made the call to evade the subway gateway. That is, to climb through without paying.
Before the imminent protest from all social sectors, the economy minister called for people to "get up earlier" in order to opt for a cheaper service. Days later, on friday, October 18, the country would be shaken by the biggest protests that Chile remembers since the dictatorship. 30 years in which the country grew, only for some. 30 years of injustice, 30 years of abuse. 30 years where the rich became richer, and the poor even poorer. The images that you will see next, were taken on October 25, in a march labeled "The biggest march in Chile". A peaceful march, which came after a week of repression, in a city overpowered by the military, with a curfew, restriction of movement and assembly, dead citizens, torture and serious human rights violations by the armed and order forces.
Still, 1.5 million people took to the streets, to make it clear to the political class and the world, that this is not a left or right wing movement, it is a social movement. That Chile would no longer be the same country as before, and that people rose up, not only because of the 30 pesos rise in the subway, but also because of 30 years of injustice and abuse.
