FONOR Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety Ltd. is developing a noise protection display. They asked me to design it and a noise measuring device as well. It was a classic industrial design project. The devices had to complete a long list of requirements which both tied my hands and gave me a clear way to work on.
They already had a prototype of a former version of the product. We decided to keep some features of that but i also found some problems to solve.
First I made 5 different concepts. Then we chose the most convenient one and added some features from the other concepts too. I made the detailed design consulting with manufacturers and also managed the whole prototyping and manufacturing process.
The display has three states:
NOISE PROTECTION IS
NOT REQUIRED (white light)
RECOMMENDED (yellow light)
REQUIRED (red light)
