Robin Hood - A Visual Publication

The Extraordinary Life of
Robertus-De-Lokesley.
Robin Hood

This project was part of a university project. We had to listen to one of the many Melvin Bragg BBC Radio 4 program 'In Our Time' and then create a visual publication based on what we had heard, and researched in relation to the topic. I chose the program about the infamous Robin Hood. The program opened my eyes to the dark truth of this mythical name of Robin Hood, evidence taken from different times in history make an interesting story to follow.

So this is my visual publication, which I made into a short novel which would have been part of a collection of books, continuing the adventures of the name 'Robin Hood'. My main influence behind the book is taken from Gonzo art and journalism. I wanted the illustrations to show the main semi-otic's of the story just by colour and positioning, by what is actually needed to be illustrated to tell the story. I used graphic pens, and ink's to create the illustrations, plus it only has a two colour code, Black and Red. T
he text was also written by me, which i tried to based around as much factual evidence, PLUS with my own myths and theories thrown in, just to give the novel that what ever story of robin hood has to offer, excitement, emotion and thrills. The book's layout is based on the fact, I enjoy children's books, I enjoy the small amount of text, and letting the illustrations tell the story, which is what this book is all about - but not for the child's mind, but the adults.
