The Vienna Secession

The Vienna Secession
This Vienna secession started with the help of Gustav Klimt. A group of people was part of the association Austrian artist also known as the AAA. A few of the designers from the AAA felt trapped and wanted to change it, they asked Gustav Klimt for help. They were discharged from the AAA and they where on their own. This is when they decided to start the Vienna Secession. Know they had the change to change everything. (Trivium Art History, 2019)

An example of art that was created is the “Tree of life” created by Gustav Klimt. This artwork is part of bigger art piece and is the first landscape piece from that time. It shows how the world has a connection to heaven and the underworld. Klimt used gold paint with the oil painting technique to give the art a luxurious look. The artwork was very different than was normal in that time. It consists of the tree branches that twist and turn in different ways and creates different kind of branches. The branches represent that life is complex and consist of different kind of parts. (https://www.jackson-pollock.org, 2019). This tree is part of Vienna secession movement, because it was created by the leader of the group. It was important for the movement to create designs that aren’t link to any style and this is the perfect example of an artwork that consists of different styles. It changed how people look at art, because it was so different, and it challenge you to really at the artwork.

Sometimes we are influenced by a movement, so we create design from that. An example of this is Hope Gangloff, that is inspired by Vienna and created the Catherine. It is a painting of a women and it consists of contour lines, variety of colours and can be seen as decorative. She is inspired by colourful things like interesting fabrics. She sees the good patterns and used in her artworks. This is exactly what was important to the Vienna movement, create something that is very different and is inspired by something unusual like patterns from fabrics. Her work is also very similar to Klimt’s, they both focus their bohemian lifestyles. The artwork of Catherine is like how Klimt painted his women, pale with flowing hair and specific dress. (Rosenberg, 2019). This a good example of artwork that are inspired by the Vienna and part of it.
