The Wolf of Wall Street is a 2013 American biographical black comedy crime film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Terence Winter, based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort. It recounts Belfort's perspective on his career as a stockbroker in New York City and how his firm, Stratton Oakmont, engaged in rampant corruption and fraud on Wall Street, which ultimately led to his downfall. Chernobyl is a 2019 historical drama television miniseries created and written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck for HBO. The series centers around the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of April 1986 and the unprecedented cleanup efforts that followed. Produced by HBO in association with Sky UK, it features an ensemble cast led by Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson. The series premiered in five parts in the United States on May 6, 2019, and concurrently in the United Kingdom on May 7, to critical acclaim.
Hotel Mumbai is a 2018 Australian-American biographical thriller film directed by Anthony Maras and co-written by Maras and John Collee. The film is inspired by the 2009 documentary Surviving Mumbai[4] about the Mumbai attacks in 2008 at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in India. The film stars Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Jason Isaacs, Suhail Nayyar, Nagesh Bhosle and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
The Ring is a American supernatural horror film directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson, David Dorfman, Brian Cox, and Daveigh Chase. It is a remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film Ring based on the novel of the same name by Koji Suzuki. Watts portrays a journalist who investigates a cursed videotape that seemingly kills the viewer seven days after watching it.
