Spring / summer Trend

Originating in ancient Persia and India, the paisley print, with its enigmatic messages and hidden symbolism, has traversed the Silk Routes, leaving an indelible mark on the tapestry of design evolution.

The droplet-like motif, known as boteh or buta, emerged as a fusion of floral spray and cypress tree—a potent symbol of life and eternity in Zoroastrianism. This seed-like shape, laden with fertility connotations and ties to Hinduism, weaves a rich narrative that resonates across cultures. Notably, the paisley bears a striking resemblance to the iconic yin-yang symbol, adding layers of intrigue to its symbolic power.

Paisley pattern's made a big journey along the Silk Routes, as it ventured from East to West. Adorning the bandanas of cowboys and bikers, embraced by the 19th-century bohemian movement, and popularized by iconic figures like The Beatles, paisley becomes a versatile and enduring emblem of diverse cultural movements.

Fast-forwarding to the present, we witness the resurgence of paisley in the contemporary design. In summer this iconic motif experiences a revival, captivating modern fashion trends. Reinterpreting paisley, blending tradition with innovation, and exploring its renewed popularity I worked on a series of seamless vector prints in this spirit.

Thank you!
