My latest design work for AW19 is out!
Super happy with the final result of this project because of the freedom and the trust that I received from the team.
To actually trusting and giving me 100% creative control of this project for the story and concept from the beginning of the process until the final release is something I'm really proud of.
LQDcell Omega, reason why I named it omega, because it's the latest iteration of the cell tech silo.
Design-wise, it's a mash up of different iconic details from the cell family, a bit exaggerated silhouette, a more chunky look, and a new LQDCell tech on the midsole.
The reason why I linked it to Akira is not only because I'm a fan of the anime, also I want to link it to Japanese anime culture as a kick start campaign for the Olympics next year.
Also the fact that Akira is one of the most famous cel animation ever made. (it has a cel related name). The year setting of the akira anime is also in the year 2019 and I think it's the right direction and inspiration for the shoe.
The triple red color is inspired by the iconic jacket and the red motorcycle that Shotaro Kaneda wore on the film.
The pink and turquoise color is inspired by the pill color on the Jacket.
