During my time at SIGG, I was given the task to redesign the brand for it’s upcoming 110th anniversary.

SIGG had previously used red and white as it’s brand colours to reflect its Swiss heritage. I kept the brand core in mind, but added black into the mix to create a feeling of modernity while making it obvious to the public eye that a brand update has been made. Black and red had become the primary colours for packages and displays.

I had kept the previous brand font, Helvetica, to further maintain the Swiss heritage within the brand. The red Slash was added as a dynamic design element that would be used to highlight important points, a consistent visual element in icons, and for bullet points.

SIGG releases bi-annual and annual catalogues to portray their available products, give product information, and further information on it’s brand, history, product materials, and what it means to be a Swiss brand. Incompletely redesigned the product overview catalogues in 2019 and 2020 to have a consistent, organized design. Bottle portrayal (in terms of sizes, colours, and how they are organized), how the different materials are shown, display of the bottles and information in an effective way (bottle explosion images), explanation of how dynamic the bottles and their lids are, and coming up with a new catalogue cover in a new style are some of the changes that I have implemented.

The Corporate Gifts team had asked for me to redesign the corporate gifts catalogue to be more user-friendly and visually appealing to their clients. I had taken close-up photos of each bottle colour/texture and organized them to be easily identified. I photographed the past year’s client corporate gift bottles to provide examples, provided information on the steps to creating these products and how they can be customized, and how to get in contact with SIGG for a quote. The website also got a newly designed, interactive fill-out form to make it quick and convenient for the client to make an order. The new fill-out form allows clients to customize their corporate gift purchase by selecting through a series of design options, making the order quick and simple for both the clients and the Corporate Gifts team.

I had written, designed, and organized the Corporate Gifts and Packaging guidelines to make sure that the brand’s identity was internalized and legitimized.

Alongside the brand redesign came the packaging redesign to match the new look. Black was used primarily for the packaging, and either red, silver, or blue were used as accent colours to hint at the type of product it was (red for insulated, silver for non-insulated, and blue for cleaning products). The front of the packaging was mindfully made to appear simple, to avoid bombarding customers with information at first sight. Instead, the packaging was designed to be simple, modern, and typically Swiss at first glance, then providing all the necessary information on the reverse page or backside of the product. This also allows the focus to be on the product instead of on the packaging. Depending on the production capabilities, either a hang tag, bottom sticker, wrap-around, or external box, was used for the products. Instruction manuals for applicable products were also redesigned to incorporate the new brand look by providing information in 8 languages, use new icons, provide volume information in litres and ounces, and to be organized in a legible manner.

Displays were redesigned to appear similar to the wrap-around packaging: black as a primary colour with red on the bottom. This allows SIGG to be recognized with a consistent look across the brand. The displays all show 4 bottles made with the different product materials (aluminum, stainless steel, glass, and plastic) in either black or red to remain consistent with the brand colours while also always matching the products that are in the display. All displays provide the same information, except the Cabinet display which also shows different adaptable product information posters.

I provided a significant amount of feedback on website details and was given the project to create landing pages for the company history and for new products. It is important to maintain a consistent look throughout the website, whether it be for shopping, reading about the company history, or learning about the product details. Brand consistency shows professionalism and helps customers identify a product with a brand, which can lead to trust and future purchases.

In 2018, I represented SIGG at the Best Of Switzerland event at the Zürich Airport. I was asked to design and promote our brand with just 1 poster and a few display cases at our stand. The display cases were used to visualize our different product materials in 3D while providing unique selling points for each product. A shopping discount pamphlet was handed out at the stand for participants who played at our Tipp Kick game.

SIGG is an annual attendee for the Ambiente and OutDoor fairs in Germany, which promotes the brand and its products while maintaining relevance. We take advantage of our exposure and promote the new and upcoming products that will land in the coming months. Given my skill set with brand design, I was asked to lead the projects for designing stand posters, product pamphlets, framed product information, branded e-mail signatures, and attendance invitations.
