“No Change in the Weather”

No Change in the Weather is a musical they took some of the best Newfoundland songs and combine it with a traditional instruments. They gather together to help revisit the past.

REFLECTION: I’ve learned a lot of things from the cast of “No Change in the Weather” they are great performers that really inspired me to pursue the career of film industry. One thing I specifically learned from them is that never limit yourself and always see through opportunities even if it isn’t your main career to pursue, it would still help you to learn more a lot about the different careers in the field that you’re in. Also another thing I learned is that you have to forgive yourself fast, the more you beat yourself up for it the more you’ll most likely mess up again. And that no matter what your peers will help you up and always back you up.

The 3 questions I had in was first, how do they over come the fear when getting on stage and performing to a lot of people? Secondly I wanted to ask what made them want to take part in a musical? Lastly what careers did take to get where they are now?

Stephen Carroll

Questions:
1. Who/What inspired you to be a musician?
2. What/Who motivates you to keep making music?
3. Are there any challenges you had to face going into this industry?
4. How do you over come stage fright?
5. What is your favourite genre of music to play?

REFLECTION: I learned so much from Stephen Carroll. One of the things I learned is that if you’re really passionate about your career it also comes with risks, like for his experience he’s married for 21 years but was away for 7 of those years because of his band career. Though he is really successful he also had some challenges with clients that he had in the past. He also taught me that you have to always plan ahead. Something that happened to him and his band is that they went to a country to perform but they had no idea where they are performing. Which made him take the role of being someone who organizes their concerts, so then he learned another new skill.
Jan Philip Cramer

Jan Philip Cramer is one of the lead animation directors in the industry. He also won an VES  award for creating the digital character of "Thanos" from the movie Avengers: "Infinity War".

REFLECTION: Jan Philip Cramer's presentation really inspired me more to be in the industry. Watching some of the short clips he showed us really amazed seeing how much they can do in this industry. Seeing how realistic they could make something/someone made me more excited because all of the things they did all started from someone's idea written on a paper. I think it would really be amazing if one day something I've written comes to life as well and everyone will enjoy it.

Trent Correy

REFLECTION: I've learned a lot during Trent Correy's presentation and one of the things I learned is that not all your ideas or stories will get published or even be considered or you can write a whole story for years it wouldn't get accepted but you keep trying and trying. Keep writing and or drawing. Also he mentioned that he drew the character already but Disney did not like so in each in scene he had to change to character's appearance. Overall I personally enjoyed Trent Correy's presentation, I learned a lot and I am hoping to be where he is now, which is making films and hopefully I can make my own character  too like him he's now Olaf the snowman from Frozen's supervisor.

REFLECTION: Yesterday's presentation with Kyle Marshall really helped me see how the industry can really be even though it's fun, you also get shut down a lot especially your ideas and how if someone buys your story, they can change anything they want on it as much as they want. I also learned that when pitching a story you should talk more about the character and let the people know who they are and why they're important to the story; also to give a little more back story to them.
