4th Street is Long Beach's six-block stretch of cool, retro furniture and clothes stores, and coffee shops and wine bars. Salons, health and fitness services are also on offer. This design job required creating one logo for 4th Street that could stand alone for future uses and a combined logo for the annual Retro Ramble in May.

T-shirts and caps with the logo were also sold at the event (bottom). Directly below are the original five logo concepts submitted for review. The last logo – not my favorite – was the one that was picked and the one that I modified and finessed to create the final logo you see above. I think reworking the fonts and working a lot more with the colors greatly improved it from the original sketch.
EVENT POSTER FOR 4TH STREET RETRO RAMBLE
Heavily influenced by old letterpress printing (Hatch printshop in Nashville, TN is an inspiration), the poster was designed with distressed/worn type on simulated kraft paper.
